What Causes Loose And Mucus Stools In A 12 Month Old?
12 month old baby has loose poops. He was born at 35. 3 weeks. Perfectly healthy. His first poop is a bit formed but though out the day it s loose and mucuosy. It changes in consistency mostly dominated by loose stools. Sometimes green sometimes yellow. He s teething too. But the teeth just poked through. And this never seems to get over. He partly breastfed n mostly bottle fed. I am confused if it s related to food or teething. Doctor says he s gaining so it s fine. Some months he would gain 450 gms, and some months only 250 gms. Don t know what to believe. On an average he does 3 to 4 poops a day
thanks for the query Passing 3-4 stools pr day is normal for this age, provided stools are normal to look at and not associated with fever/vomiting/excessive crying. Please ensure to boil his bottle correctly (for 10 minutes after the water has started boiling) It seems the baby is gaining proper weight (1 kg in 6 months after 1 yr of age on an average during first few years after first year) If your doctor is not worried kindly trust him/her. Babies do pass soft stools as routine and may be you are interpreting it as loose stools as the baby is gaining proper weight.
