What Causes Leg Cramps In A Person Having Aortic Aneurysm?

My husband has had an aortic aneurysm (4 years ago). The aneurysm extended beyond the renal arteries, so they had to put stents in. He was in a study for this at Barnes Hospital. He has gotten along very well, except now he has a GFR # of 29. November it was 31, Dec. 30 and Jan. 29. We don t know if maybe there is a problem with the stents or what. I do know he has been tested each year at Barnes and they do use dye for one of the tests. He does not have high blood pressure, but takes blood pressure medicine, so it is under control. He does have high cholesterol and was on meds, but then had leg cramps. However, from what I read the leg cramps can be from ckd. His leg cramps can be severe. We did go to a nephrologist and have another appointment, but I am wondering if we shouldn t contact the doctor who put the stents in also. My husband is 86 and has been in great health. He does not have any pain, even now, except some leg cramps on occasion.

your question is very genuine.

occasional leg cramps are usually not due to reduced blood supply. since the stent has been reviewed regularly , everything is likely to be good. Yes CKD is likely to be the cause of the symptoms.
