Hi, thanks for posting the concern in HCM.

My understanding is, left sided chest pain and feeling of rapid heart beat, i. e. Palpitation while walking at your age is due to anxiety disorder. But, other possible causes should be excluded before specifying this diagnosis. These are -
Congenital heart disease, cardiac arrhythmia, any other heart disease, gastresophageal reflux disease, esophagitis, lower respiratory tract infection, fibromyalgia etc.

Have you been clinically examined by the doctor who advised you to get a chest xray because this investigation is not advisable to a woman of your age without clinical examination and particular suspicion of any chest abnormality.

If you have already been clinically examined by the doctor, he or she must have some suspicion regarding any chest pathology, including lung, or mediastinum. Therefore, you should have the test.

Otherwise you need to be examined by a local internal medicine specialist. You may need to have the following tests -
ECG
24hr holter monitoring
Echocardiography
Complete blood count, urea, creatinine, electrolytes, fasting TSH, HbA1c.
Barium meal xray

For the time being, you can have healthy diet, plenty of oral fluid, daily exercise if possible.

For any further information, please write back to me directly. Regards
