What Causes Itching In The Nipples And A Milky Discharge?

I recently have noticed my nipples itching frequently, at times I have noted a clear discharge from one nipple and what appears to be breast milk from the left. I often experience sore breasts. I have Mirena in place so there is a minimal possiblity that I could be pregnant.

Welcome to Health care magic.

1.Possibility of pregnancy should be ruled out first - an urine pregnancy test will help.
2.The symptoms mentioned suggest inflammatory disease - mastitis. with discharge and sore breast.
3.in this case the ultrasound breast will help to assess the breast parenchyma, ductal causes, and inflammatory changes like sub cutaneous oedema, thickened ducts could be one of the cause. At the same time helps to rule out presence of any mass lesions.
4.In case of ductal dilatation with milk stasis within, a suction will be done.
5.For inflammatory breast get a course of antibiotic treatment that would help.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
