General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Low thyroid function may affect the menstrual cycle. If your TSH is a little higher than the desired level then you may need a higher dose of Levothyroxine tablet. A follow-up test of TSH in 6 weeks from the dose change is recommended, so to make sure it reaches normal levels. If the periods continue to be irregular 3 months after TSH is within normal limits, then you may need to do other tests to check other hormones (FSH, LH, prolactin, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone etc).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
