Im 19, and for years I had my menstrual cycle regularly but about 3 years ago it became irregular. I ve never had sex but recently I d miss it for like 6 months then it ll come a little and then stop and come again for 2 to 3 weeks. I ve looked it up and it said it could be because of stress and I m a little over right for my age. Any advice as why I m having as amenohrea? Not sure if I spelt that right.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem of irregular menstrual cycle can be due to conditions like PCOD or thyroid problems. So thyroid profile and ultrasound examination should be done after examination with a gynecologist. In case of hypothyroidismthyroxine supplementation will help you. In case of PCOD proper therapy will be helpful also. If those are clear then it can be due to inadequate nutrition or anemia. So a blood routine also should be done. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
