What Causes Inflammation From Ear To Jaw On Face And Neck?
Hi my daughter has large inflammation in one side of her face from under her ear into her jaw and neck we have been to the doctors today with her and they say could possibly be mumps but it s just on one side were now waiting for blood results and a scan the doctor seemed puzzled
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain inflammation and swelling on the side of face under the ear and progressing into the jaw and neck seems to be more towards inflammation of submandibular salivary gland and does not seems to be like mumps..
Although mumps can be unilateral too but the swelling in this case mostly represents to be present from the area infront of the ear and face.. But in case if it is from under the ear to the jaw it can be most probably submandibular salivary gland..
I would suggest you to still wait for the blood test results and get evaluated and after investigations only proper diagnosis will be planned.. As of now you can give her tylenol for pain and also do cool compresses over the swelling.. Give her soft diet and ample of fluids..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
