What Causes Increased Anxiety After A Medical Procedure On Throat?

Hello, I ve been having increased anxiety after having a procedure done on my throat to help with snoring. It started a few weeks after the procedure when one of the areas wasn t healing fast enough. The Doctor assured me everything is fine and healing will come eventually. Still I feel like I have to be careful when eating foods and this level of anxiety has been pretty persistent but mainly only in the mornings. I take one 1mg pill of Xanax every morning to help with that and I m trying not to do any more than that. Tried several anti-depressants but I m so sensitive to the side effects that I usually don t take them more than a few days. Up next is Lexapro but I think the one Xanax a day is doing the job and hopefully once this mouth thing heals, I ll be ok mentally as well. I ve had mild anxiety issues before but this has been pretty bad. I m finally just now starting to sleep better and the anxiety level has gotten better in recent days. Before I couldn t sleep much past 5 hrs a night. I m also getting counseling from a psychologist doing EMDR and CBT. It helps a bit. Any thoughts on this? Chris
