Hi,

Hot flashes usually occur due to hormonal reasons.Hot flashes are very common during pre-menopausal and menopausal period. You have not mentioned your menstrual history. Recent history of hot flashes along with irregular or heavy bleeding, mood changes, vaginal dryness can indicate the onset of menopause. I would suggest you to visit your gynecologist for a clinical examination.

Non-menopausal hot flashes can also occur in hypothyroidism. Hence, thyroid function test should be done. Many drugs are available to control hot flashes like clonidine which can be tried. Wearing breathable fabrics in less layers, drinking adequate fluids and avoiding trigger foods can reduce the symptoms to a great extent.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
