What Causes High Fever After Dtap Booster?

My 5 year old daughter had her dtap booster on Monday. She developed a high fever (103.4) on Tuesday. She was a little better yesterday, but today (Thursday) the fever is back and she is extremely fussy. I took her to the dr on Tues for a strep test which came back negative. Is this a common reaction to this immunization?

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

As a matter of fact any vaccination can cause fever, especially during 1st 24 hours post vaccination and rarely till 48-72 hours. More than this definitely it is not vaccine associated fever. I advise you to consider possibilities other than this as your paediatrician has rightly done. It could be a viral illness too.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
