I am a 31 year old female, with history of mild epilepsy, and have no other conditions, I gave normal birth for a boy who is now 8 years old, and have no other children. I don't take any contraceptive pills or any related treatments.
I would greatly appreciate your advice regarding my condition which I have been suffering from since April 2011 and am now at my wits end
I'm having very heavy vaginal bleeding accompanied with dark clots ( looks like pieces of chopped liver).
This bleeding started in April this year and still occuring non stop. Before that I had irregular periods for about 6 moths, and were at times heavy and some times were light dark spotting which eventually will disappear after two or three days of my menstrual cycle.
I have been visiting my local GP's and & have had to go to Accident & Emergency on 3 occasions now when the bleeding suddenly increased along with the clotting. I had an ultra sound with clear results and a physical examination but they found nothing. They say it is clear no Polyps or Fibroid condition. They do not however give me an internal scan.
They suggest that am having a prolonged bleeding because of a hormonal imbalance effecting my uterine wall. which then they prescribed a hormone tablets and a pain killer.
My worry is that, maybe the blood results are positive and may be nothing appeared on the ultra sound scan but they should have done an internal scan or screening. examination. I have come to know from some women who had similar problems that these tablets can result in even further problems. I did take Norethisterone 5mg tablets but this only stopped the bleeding temporarily. It's now come back even worse. I went to A&E again yesterday & they have prescribed 'MEFENAMIC ACID 500mg & TRANEXAMIC ACID 500mg. The bleeding is bright red, clear blood with clots. I also have back pain, weakness & swelling around the abdominal area & legs.
I would really appreciate your advice, should I take these tablets, do I need an internal scan or DNC ?(which the NHS in UK just won't do, probably as it costs money)
