What Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?

I am 49 years old and have bean experiencing a very heavy menstrual flow with very large clots passing. I bleed for about 2 weeks now, I have not been able to get into my GYN. I am not an alarmist, but last night very fatigued with flu like symptoms. Not sure if it related or I have the flu on top of another issue. Do not want to run off to the ER. The bleeding is pretty heavy that it causes problems through out my normal day... Probably answering my own questions... Thank you, Gina YYYY@YYYY

Hi, I think your flu is not associated with your vaginal bleeding. You can take some medicines like Tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding. Get a ultrasound done to see the uterus and ovaries. You can take some antipyretic for your fever. Consult a gynecologist for pelvic examination.
