What Causes Heavy Bleeding With Clots After Having Unsafe Sex?

My ex boyfriend and had unprotected sex on 7/12 usually he would pull out but he was drunk and we were in the shower (because I started bleeding) and he didnt pull out. My periods are never regular so I wasnt really alarmed but the day after and today ive had heavy bleeding and lots of small to medium sized clots and only a couple of big ones im not sure how to go about this

Hi,

I have understood your concern.

Since your menses are irregular, It is likely that you started menstruating during or immediately after the intercourse. If there was long gap between the last menstruation and this one, it very much likely that the bleeding will be heavy and may be with clots.

The bleeding due to trauma inside the vagina usually comes out immediately and hence does not have any scope to clot. Usually when the bleeding is with clots, it is from the uterus.

However, please report to your Gynaecologist to confirm that there is no intravaginal trauma. Also he/she will evaluate you for the irregular menses and also will give you medication to stop the bleeding.

If it is intrauterine bleeding, use of Progesterone for few days will control this bleeding. After discontinuing the tablets, again the bleeding will start, but it will be less.

If there is any trauma inside the vagina, it may require repair.
