What Causes Heartburn Or Indigestion After Switched To Generic Version Of Caduet?

I take a generic version of Caduet (can t remember the name). Every since I was switched to the generic version, I have had more bouts with heartburn or indigestion. I have also changed my diet to include quite a few more raw vegetables and fruits. Is this something related to one another? What should I consider?

Hi,

Noted your history well and understood the concerns.
It is most probably that change of diet to more raw vegetables and fruits might have caused acidity or intolerance causing GERD that is gastro-intestinal reflux disease.
It is also possible that the generic form of the said medicine can have some preservatives that can cause similar problems.
There can be associated factors like stress and anxiety.
Associated hiatus hernia may need to be ruled out.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
First of all revert back to the normal diet you were taking, stop anything new.
Go back to the trade marked medicine which you were taking before.
Take a PPI like Omeprazole and Domperidone.
Avoid stress and anxiety.
No late nights or heavy dinner.
See the results.
If no relief then take an appointment for an Upper GI Endoscopy and further management as per the reports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon.
