What Causes Headaches And Nose Bleeding?

My daughter is 16, plays soccer for the school and runs about 2 miles a day. She eats a normal teenage diet and does not drink soft drinks or energy drinks of any kind. Today she had a bad ( pouring ) nose bleed starting at 3pm and said it is still dripping occasionally 50 minutes later. She had a headache just before and is now saying her left arm is tingling. I have had terrible nose bleeds from 4 or 5 till I had surgery at 15 then they started again about 6 months ago, at 38. I have also had other illnesses because of rheumatic fever at 5. My daughter is very active and healthy. Should I be worried about the headache and nose bleed?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

From the available description there is high possibility that she suffers with migraine. Although migraine is rare cause of nose bleed but it is still a cause.

The another possibility is high blood pressure which often runs in families and presents with epistaxis.

Hope I have answered your query.
