What Causes Headache?

My daughter has had headaches off and on for about a year now, and they are worsening. Just this week, she has been unable to find any relief. Along with this, she has been feeling sick after eating. A few months ago, she fell...twice...once on a slip-n-slide and once when she fainted in the bathroom, hitting her head hard on the side of the bathtub. I am beginning to worry that those falls could be related to her headaches, or even worse, they could be the result of a tumor. She is a dental assistant and her dentist seems to believe she is suffering from TMJ, so he made her a night guard to wear last night...no relief today...in much pain still, though Ibuprofen has helped some today. Another concern is that she has fainted several times throughout her life, but the fainting has always seemed to go along with things such as when she has been very hot, getting her blood drawn, or during an illness or menstrual cycle...her internist sent her several months ago for an EEG, but no abnormality there. She has another doctor s appointment with her internist in a couple of weeks, but I am so worried.

Hi,

First of all, you should do CT scan brain to exclude a brain lesion. Then she should do ECG and ECHO on her heart to exclude heart disease. If she did not have cardiac or brain diseases, she should do CBC to exclude anemia. Because anemia can cause attacks of faint and headache. EEG is not recommended in a patient with a headache and the painkiller cannot treat the cause of the headache.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
