What Causes Headache On Right Eye Brow Near Temple Area?

I have head ache on my right eye brow to temple area. It appears almost every day around 9:00 am and goes away on its own after couple of hours. Somedays it is really bad and at times it is bearable. No swelling or rash in the area. Bayer 500 mg seems to work. No impact on the vision. It doesnot appear to be like tension band or throbing. It is constant piercing, a little burning pain in the region. The area is little tender to touch but pressing it helps. What kind of head ache is it? What is the prevention and treatment?

Hi,

Your symptoms which include timing of your headache of 2 hrs. With orbital pain, as you've described coming in a predictable fashion is consistent with a type of headache known as a trigeminal autonomic cephalalgia type and more specifically, cluster headache.

You need to seek out a neurologist or better yet a headache specialist for a more accurate diagnosis since there are other symptoms that need to be investigated and pieces of your history that could suggest treatable causes which will be so much more to your benefit rather than just "experimenting" with different drugs.

These are not migraine headaches by your description and therefore, I would not accept that as a diagnosis.

They are also unlikely to be tension or stress headaches although psychological stressors could certainly exacerbate the intensity of these headaches once they are present.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
