What Causes Frequent Cough And Cold In A 20 Month Old?
Hi, My son is 20 months old and already suffered from a very pneumonia about 11 months ago and right now suffering from frequent cough and fever. My doctor prescribed Asthalin Expectorant - 5ml three times, Budocort 100 - 2 Puffs, Fevargo for fever. Also Montair Syrup - 5ml daily in evening.. He gets cured for few days and again suffering the same.... I need an immediate help regarding the above.
Thanks for the query It appears from your details of the symptoms that your child is having persistent airway disease (persistent bronchial asthma). In such patients controller medicines are prescribed (inhaled corticosteroids--budecort and montair ) which are to be continued for quiet sometime. Along with this, rescue medicines (asthalin ) are needed as and when needed for the initial few days (5-8) days. If the controller medicines are not given for sufficient time(sometimes for many months) and are discontinued after the initial symptoms are over (a common mistake) recurrence of symptoms occur, which appears to be the most likely reason in your son. Please ensure avoidance of any obvious allergen contributing to his illness
