What Causes Foul Smelling Stool In Babies?

My 13 month old has foul smelling bm. She is still primarily breastfed, though does eat solids well, just not a lot. She has sacral region spina bifida, but has thus far showed no bowel issues. (she has a clinic appt next month so we'll talk about this then as well) I'm just beginning to wonder WHY she smells so bad. If this has something to do with her diet, my diet, her sb or what. Any ideas?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM forum,
Foul smelling stools can be normal and also secondary to some infection. Check if there is any blood in stools. If not, nothing to worry. You need to improve her diet and she should start taking oral feeds. semi solids, fruits, vegetables and that can improve her stool problems.
Take care.
Happy to help.
