What Causes Fever And White Spots In The Throat?

My 4 year old has had fevers up to 104 for 72 hours now. She had the quick strep test come back negative yesterday. Doctor said she has white spots on her throat and her only other symptom she complains of sometimes is her tummy hurts. Does she really just have a virus?

Hello,
White spots in throat with fever is indicating towards infection either due to bacteria, virus or fungus and even due to tonsil stones. If your child's strep test is negative then it is more likely to be due to candidiasis or any viral infection causing pharyngitis or tonsil stone as food/mucus may stuck to tonsil. Consult an ENT specialist for further management. You should maintain a good oral hygiene of your child, give her luke warm water to drink, tab. paracetamol can be given for fever relief.
thank you for consulting HCM.
