What Causes Fever And Stomach Ache In Child?

My 3 year old has a 103.8 fever. It was at 101.9 this morning, gave him motrin. He felt a little better, and we went out grocery shopping. At the store, his color changed, and he looked bad. Got him home, and he was acting listless. I checked his temp and it was 104.1. Gave him tylenol (b/c it was only 11 AM). He went to bed. He has been in bed ever since. The fever dropped from 104.1 down to 102.2, but now is back at 103.8. I just gave him a does of motrin at 3. He is complaing of a stomach ache only, but has had no diarrhea or vomiting. Should I take him into Primed or see if the motrin brings the fever down.

Hello. I just read through your question. There are many things that can cause fever and abdominal pain. Most common is a harmless virus, though not necessarily a stomach virus. However, sometimes strep throat can present this way. This would require antibiotic treatment. Additionally, if the abdominal pain were to move to the right side over the course of the day, we would have to think about appendicitis (less common, but still a possibility). For these reasons, I recommend consulting with your doctor rather than waiting it out.
