What Causes Excruciating Pain Of The Anal Fissure?

I have an anal fissure, which is excrutiatingly painful. Even urinating hurts as the urine burns the swollen anal tissue. I woke up 3 times last night feeling a terrible need to urinate, but nothing came out. I suffer from bladder and Urinary Tract infections somewhat regularly, but I've been on amoxycillin since Thursday night, 3 times a day... shouldn't the antibiotic have prevented the infection? If I take cranberry pills for it, am I going to have to worry about constipation?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

According to the description, this seems more likely to be prolapsed hemorrhoids rather than fissure as there is swollen tissue in anal region which is not present in fissure.

Immediate consultation with your surgeon is required. Cranberry sachets or pills can be taken in constipation condition without problems. Also, Sitz bath 3 times a day will help till you consult your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
