What Causes Elevated Values Of AST And ALT?

elevated AST (sgot) - 48 H and elevated ALT (sgpt). - 51.To be retested in 2 mo. Had surgery in Sept 20,2011 - bladder prolapse, hysterecomy, and left ovary removed. Had a bladder infection in February 2011 - treated with the sulpha antibiotic for three days. The surgery was done vaginal and left with no known problem except to heal.

nO need to worry.
liver enzyme values which are higher than 2 times the upper limit of normal should be thoroughly investigated.

current values are not worrysome.

liver enzymes maybe monitored after 6 to 8 weeks.
