Can Neutropenia Causes Increase Liver Tests?
My mom is on decitabine for MDS and is neutropenic lately so chemo has been on hold. She s also on Desferral and Exjade. Dr. states high ALT and AST may go away once wbc s are back in line. Can neutropenia cause increases in liver tests? Doesn t sound right to me. I think it s the iron chelating.

Hello,
Neutropenia has to do nothing with the elevated liver enzymes, its completely different. Your mom needs only follow up, as long as the chemotherapy is stopped, the lab results will be improved.
