Pancreatic surgery frequently results in pancreatic insufficiency which requires
pancreatic enzymes( prescription strength) to treat . They are usually used with every meal and even snacks. They are used chronically and need to be continued . Without the correct dose one can get diarrhea weight loss and malnutrition leading to edema. Also rechecks for any spread of disease are appropriate.
