What Causes Delays In Menstruation?

Hi, i took femilon birth control pill for a month, stooped it on 21st day of my cycle, had periods on 26th day of the cycle. this time I did not take the pill because i was not going to have intercourse for the month.But this month its a week late than my usual date. I had no intercourse. this is the first time i had taken a pill. why is my periods delayed? I usually have a pretty regular cycle.

This is most likely due to the hormonal imbalance created during the previous cycle through the use of the pills. It is not advisable to use the pills on and off because ovulation becomes irregular thereby affecting the cycle pattern. Please plan a proper routine of using the pill and if you wish to avert side effects by avoiding the pill when not required, you can opt for an IUD instead or if carefully executed, can also go for dual protection barrier methods.
