What Causes Chronic Pain In The Tail Bone?

I am a 36 year old, 5 6 , weighing 130 lbs. I have been a diabetic for 26 years. I have been having pain in my tailbone area for 2 years now. Painful when I sit, lay down, move from a sitting or laying down position to getting up. I have not had any injuries to this area and I have had 3 x-rays done and all have shown nothing. What can be causing this pain that is so debilitating?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Cause of such pain might be bursitis, that is inflammation of bursa present over the tailbone. Diagonosis can be confirmed by mri or local ultrasonography.

Treatment can be conservative or surgical, first we try the conservative with intralesional steroids and if not proved to be effective then surgery would be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Rohan Shanker Tiwari
