What Causes Chest Pain During Certain Moments?

I have some chest pain over the thymus area ever since yesterday evening. It s not a pain that hurts all the time, it hurts only when I do certain motions, that s why I m not sure whether it s my muscle or something else hurting. It may be just a bad muscle strain. But as I said, I m not sure. I m 16, by the way.

Hello,

You have pain in the chest around the thymus area, it hurts only when you do certain motions. Your symptoms may be indicative of muscle strain, costochondritis pain, acid reflux, IBS, thymic tumor, etc. Overactive thymus gland may present with symptoms of retrosternal chest pain, a feeling of pressure, or squeezing in the chest.

Thymic tumors often go unnoticed until their mass begins pushing up against the breastbone or ribs, causing chest pain, breathing problems and difficulty in swallowing. A thymus tumor may or may not be cancerous. Only a biopsy can determine this. You are suggested not to neglect though you do not have major symptoms right now. Get clinically examined by a GP, get tests and investigations done.

You may require to get CBC, biochemical analysis with an assessment of kidney and liver function, coagulation profile, ECG, MRI, CT, biopsy, to get a detailed study so that treatment can be started at the earliest (this is to stay on the safer side). You can take acetaminophen, one SOS when discomfort. Take Digene syrup, 10ml / tab when gastritis. Acid reflux/gastritis may also present with such symptom.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
