Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi there, I am experiencing unusual and slight chest pain on more of the right hand side of the centre of my chest for about 3 days but i have experienced this before and it subsided- it is usually through stressful periods for me. It is also slightly effecting my right hand with twinges and slight numbness. I have started to feel drowsy today however i am unsure whether this is linked at all, as I have also just started my menstral cycle. Can you help?
Chest pain can be due to any structure in the chest from the skin inwards. It can be related to the skin, muscles and other soft tissue, bones, esophagus, heart and lungs. It can also be due to anxiety. Menstruation is not normally associated with chest pain.
The fact that it occurs with stress may point to anxiety but this should only be considered after the other causes have be ruled out by assessment.
Numbness and tingling can sometimes be indicative of problems related to the nerves in the area . This can also be assessed. There are different possible causes.
I hope this helps
