What Causes Bruise A Bruise On The Ear?
Hi, My son is 16months old and he got a small bruise on the very top of his ear and we have no idea how he got it. He is very active so could have been from falling...but we took him to the doctor because it was spreading down his ear and is now much bigger than originally. They didn t seem very concerned about it so we were just told to keep an eye on it. Well now he has two small bruise-like spots. One on his left rib and the other on his back above his butt. They are a little bigger than a pencil width in diameter. I m just concerned especially because he just started Flovent exactly one week ago. What could this be?

Noted your history about your 16 month old son developing bruise over ear then on buttock and rib area and consulting a Doctor.
The commonest causes I can think about are as follows:
Low platelet count.
Any bleeding or clotting disorder.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Request for relevant tests of blood like bleeding time, clotting time, prothrombine time and other tests.
Clinical evaluation for enlarged spleen.
Further confirmatory tests.
Treatment as per the cause found; second opinion of a Hematologist may be required.
This may be a serious condition hence act fast.
