HEllo there, thanks for writing in. Let me brief you why there is spotting and irregular periods in pcos.
The uterine lining keeps growing under the influence of estrogen ( sex hormone ) that is produced by developing follicle ( shell of egg ). once ovulation happens another hormone called progesterone is produced by the egg shell which acts on the endometrium and stops its growth to shrink it. This step is very important in proper shedding of endometrium during menses.
In pcos, as ovulation doesn't happen, there is only estrogen and no progesterone and endometrium grows thick under the action of estrogen and also becomes very fragile and sheds in pieces which causes spotting.
You must be having spotting as you do not have progesterone released after ovulation. And to compensate that I suggest you take Sysron N 5mg initially for thrice daily for three days and then twice daily for the next 18 days. Your spotting will stop during this period and once you finish your medication you ll get your periods in a week which you can expect to be little heavy and painful. You may take tab.mefenamic acid a maximum of thrice daily for menstrual pain if required.
Do consider regular oral contraceptive pills for cycle regularisation. Hope this helped. Good luck !
