What Causes Blue Lips And Orange Urination With Diabetes?
my father has blue tinged lips on oxygen with an o2 sat of 99, oranged colored urine but not on any meds that cause that. has pancreatitis, diabetes, and has not been able to keep anything down liquid or otherwise for several days. his kidneys were shutting down on him about october of last year but they said were okay now. the pa isn t giving us any info can you?

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Blue tinged lips is due to cyanosis-result of low blood oxygen levels.
Since his o2 sat of 99,it can be due to Methemoglobinemia-acquired resulting from overdose of nitrates, nitrite or nitroprusside.
Orange coloration of urine can be caused by:B complex vitamins or ,drugs like phenazopyridine (pyridium,used to treat urinary tract infections), rifampin,clofazimine and anti-coagulants like phenindione,warfarin.
An opaque orange-pink urine color can result from abundant uric acid crystals which can be seen in acidic urine of patients who have undergone intestinal by-pass surgery or are receiving chemotherapy for malignancy.
Orange urine may also be caused by dehydration,which can concentrate your urine and make it much deeper in color,if he is not on any of those medication.
Large amounts of carrots or carrot juice(carotene) may also give urine an orange tinge.
Orange coloration of urine can rarely be due to urinary tract infection by certain gram negative organisms.
