General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical examination by your [pulmonologist] and do few investigations like [Chest X-ray, Complete blood count with differential, Sputum culture and Pulse oximetry] to confirm the exact pathology.

2)If infection is present then you will need antibiotics, cough medication and medication for fever.

Do take few preventive steps like this -

1)Get vaccinated. Vaccines are available to prevent some types of pneumonia and the flu. Talk with your treating doctor about getting these shots.

2)Practice good hygiene. To protect yourself against respiratory infections that sometimes lead to pneumonia, wash your hands regularly or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

3)Don't smoke. Smoking damages your lungs' natural defenses against respiratory infections.

4)Keep your immune system strong. Get enough sleep, exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet.

Hope that helps
