What Causes Blood Tingled Jelly Like Mucous From Rectum?
From my previous post: I was diagnosed with POTS in 2010, they did a tilt table test to diagnose me, they ruled out other d/o first, As far as blood tests: I had a CBC, BMP, blood cultures. I did not have a LP or any other body fluid testing. I was never tested for environmental factors, ex heavy metals etc. I have seen a EP, and neurologist at UCSF. The memory issue the neurologist was not concerned with. I am still having memory issues as well as the previous listed problems in my last post. most recently i am having another symptom, i dont believe it is r/t my POTS. I have been having blood tinged jelly like mucous coming form my rectum, it comes out whether i void or have a BM. My BM range from daily to once every other day, sometimes i may have 2 a day. Most recently I have been having horrible pressure on my rectum when i sit, and i have a spot along my tailbone that has a visible bruise. Any thoughts. I just seen my PCP and have a referral to a GI doctor at the end of the month, i have pending CBC, BMP, and stool cultures.

In most cases, causes of such bleeding through rectum are benign and include hemorrhoids, anal fissure or rectal polyps. These are primarily treated with stool softener, diet and sitzbaths. If there is no improvement in next few weeks, then surgical management should be considered. Other causes may be more serious and include tumors or inflammatory bowel diseases and these should be ruled out with colonoscopy which must be done if there is low blood count present or rapid weight loss. Otherwise, yiu can see if conservative therapy will help and consult proctologist if necessary.
