What Causes Blocked Ear And Canker Sores On The Tongue?

For the last 10 years, I've had a sensitivity to wind flowing past my ears. Within a day, my ear will feel somewhat plugged and my tongue will develop canker sores on the same side as the affected ear. It lasts about a week. No other symptoms. Have you run into this problem?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that you are suffering from an allergic reaction to some substance in the air. Other than that, there seems to be no connection between a problem of ear and canker sores on the tongue.

Now when next time you plan to travel when it is possible that air will pass your ears, you should start taking antihistamine such as Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day before the travel.

If it will be an allergic reaction, you will not develop the sores and plugged ears. In addition, when the sores develop, you should apply local Benzocaine gel (Mucopain) over the ulcers to have relief in them.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
