What Causes Bleeding From The Anus?

My husband (55 years old) feels like he has to have a bowel movement, but when he goes to the restroom, blood come out. Is this hemorrhoids? This is the second episode he has had of this, and I m concerned because there are no external signs of hemorrhoids, but I know that there are also internal hemorrhoids, so I m not sure if I m worrying for nothing. Any advice you could give, would be a great help!
