General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your friend's Father about bleeding per rectum wherein the Doctors at Fortis hospital are unable to tell the cause.
The commonest causes of bleeding per rectum in elderly people are:
- Hemorrhoids
- Anal fissure
- Polyps
- Ulcer
- Cancer and so on.
This can be diagnosed by:
Per-rectal digital examination.
Proctoscopy to start with.
Colonoscopy.
Contrast enhanced CT scan of the abdomen particularly to find out the bleeding point if here is no results in other tests.
Clinical evaluation of the situation and get a proper diagnosis by a General Surgeon.
Get operated as per the cause found.
