What Causes An Early Period With Dark Brown Flow After Taking ECP?

Hi, i had sex about 11 days ago. The condom broke on us. 3 days later i took a ECP called take action . My period was supposed to come on next week. Instead, it came on yesterday (9 days early). It is very different this time. Its dark brown in my pad but it is regular red when i urinate. Is this an effect from the ECP?

Hi,
Yes, it is true that emergency pills cause hormonal imbalances to the extent of creating menstrual irregularities as they contain excess doses of hormone. The bleeding you are currently experiencing is likely to be the withdrawal bleed secondary to the use of the pill. Your next normal period may also be delayed by a week or two. If you do not see your normal period even after 10 days after it is due, please see a specialist for further help. Hope this helps.
