What Causes Acid Reflux In A 70 Year Old?

Hi there
I am a 70 year old female suffering from acid reflux for the past 8 years. Have been on various PPIs but none of them worked, so I was put on Ranitidine recently. Since I was put on Ranitidine, I get pain in the Thymus area. This is a new developement. Can there be some other reason for this than the acid reflux please?

Hello

Thank you for trusting HCM

Dear acid reflux itself can cause retrosternal pain and burning sensation.

Causes are relaxed lower esophageal sphincter along with that raised intra abdominal pressure can cause reflux of acid into esophagus.

Hiatus hernia lead to acid reflux. NDAIDS and alcohol aggravate the problem. Have you undergone endoscopy??what is the report says??

Please avoid spicy food and alcohol, take tablet nexpro-l before breakfast for one month.syrp mucain gel two teaspoon twice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care
