What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Spotting Post Tubal Ligation?

I ve had my tubes tied and also an ablation (due to extremely heavy periods every 14 days lasting for 5-10 days) after 3rd kid was born 20 months ago. I also have MTHFR, pcos and endometriosis. But for the last week or 2, I have had spotting with mucus discharge and abdominal cramping. Is it something I should call my ob about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, it is important to contact your OB/GYN about these symptoms as they could indicate a problem. Abdominal cramping and spotting could be a sign of an infection, injury, or other complication related to the tubal ligation or ablation. It is important to rule out any serious issues such as uterine or ovarian cancer, especially given your history of endometriosis.

Additionally, having MTHFR and PCOS may also increase your risk of certain health problems and make it important to monitor your symptoms closely. Your OB/GYN can perform a physical exam, review your medical history, and order any necessary tests to determine the cause of your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

It is important not to ignore these symptoms, even if they seem mild, as they may be indicative of a larger issue. Prompt medical attention can help to prevent complications and ensure the best possible outcome.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
