What Causes Abdominal Cramps Along With Blood In Stools?

I have stomach cramps on occasion and blood in my stool. This has been occurring for a week now. Two weeks before, I had a stomach bug with diarrhea. I took Imodium for two days, and the diarrhea subsided. However, since then I have had very little solid stool.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there. I am your physician and I have expertise in Internal medicine and I know whats goung on inside. Blood in stools and worm infestation causes significant blood loss. Anemia (blood loss and low haemoglobin) causes cramps of high metabolic activity muscles as of Digestive tract and ovaries and fallopian tubes. Also worm infestation causes cramping abdominal pain.
See your doctor for constipation too.
Advised:- Complete Blood count, Faecal Occult blood test, gastroscopy and colonoscop.
Note:- take plenty of fluids and high fiber diet to avoid constipation and eat Iron containing diets to replenish deficiency (if any) in blood loss. Your physician may prescribe multivitamins and/or Iron supplements. Take them too
