What Causes A White Patch In The Back Of The Mouth?

Hi, I have a light white patch in the back of mouth, it does not look like Leukoplakia or oral thrush. I saw the doctor three times in 2 month time, first time they took a swap to see if it was a strep throat and it was not, second time they said its an ulcer and should go by it self, third time the referred me to a specialist and wont be able to see the specialist untill one month from now. There is a slight stinging pain when i swallow. Could you please let me know what it could be. p.s it is not a thick white patch its very light in color.

Hi...
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain a white patch at the back of the mouth seems to be most commonly due to either Yeast infection known as Thrush or if there is continuous irritation in that area like with denture or somt else it can be Leukoplakia.
As it is faint and not a thick patch the cause for it can be still any of the above mentioned condition and a biopsy is needed to confirm the cause.
As it is already 2 months that the patch is present it will not be an Apthous Ulcer and if it is an ulcer it can be malignant ..
Any treatment can be planned only after confirmation of the cause ..
Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
