What Causes A Red Spot On The Area Of Injection?

3 days ago I received a tetanus vaccine in my upper left arm. Starting yesterday there was a nickel sized red circular spot & today it is little larger than a quarter. The discomfort in my arm has subsided dramatically, but there is heat in my arm at injection site, although both upper arms feel hot. Is this a normal reaction?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

Red spot or patch at the site of injection may be ecchymoses..blood collected in dermis caused by trauma to dermal capillaries. This is totally normal phenpmenon. So, do not worry. However, you consult dermatologist or physician to rule out blood diseases or bleeding disorder. He might investigate to rule out bleeding disorders. You may apply thrombophob oint on the patch. You may be improved. I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
