What Can Be Done For Dizziness And Abnormal Blood Pressure After Eating Cake With Weeds?

Hi my friend is on teva-venlafaxine 37.5mg Apparently he ate some cake with weeds inside. He is shaking a bit a really dizzy. Checked his blood pressure 110/65. He feels worse when he opens his eye because of his dizziness. What should we do to help him recover and what did happen to him?

Hi, Venlafaxine is an antidepressant drug. Taking foods rich in fat along with this drug (like cake, butter, cheese) will suddenly increase the levels of seratonin in the blood and can cause " seratonin syndrome". The symptoms are agitation, tremor, warm body, dizziness etc. sometimes it can result in fatal seizures, hence avoiding those foods is essential. Let him rest for some time and if symptoms persist, take him to neurologist. He will be fine soon, all the best.
