General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
The use of contraceptive pills can have potential side effects that can vary from person to person. Here are some of the common side effects: - Nausea - Headaches - Breast tenderness - Weight gain - Irregular bleeding or spotting - Mood changes - Decreased libido - Blood clots
It is important to note that not all women experience side effects, and if they do, they are usually mild and tend to go away after a few months. If you are experiencing bleeding during sex or abnormal bleeding, it is important to speak with your healthcare provider as soon as possible to rule out any underlying medical conditions. They may suggest a pelvic exam or further testing determine the cause of the bleeding.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
