Hi

Myteka contains montelukast which inhibits chemicals called leukotrines which is responsible for bronchial inflammation and narrowing.Thereby wheezing and other symptoms of bronchial asthma are reduced.

Montelukast cannot inhibit an acute asthmatic attack but can only prevent a future attack when it is taken routinely.

If your child has not shown any visible side effects such as allergy to the drug,I would definitely recommend you to continue with the drug for 6 months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
