What are the side effects of folic acid tablets?

I am 39, trying to get pregnant and so I have recently started taking 500pg folic acid. I had a very late & not very heavy period last week, got a neg pregnancy test result and now my nipples are so sore I can barely touch them...could this be the folic acid?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

The problem you are facing may not be due to folic acid
as there is no documented evidence

Sore nipples can occur for a surprising range of reasons like during menstruation, pregnancy, hormone imbalance etc
To begin soothing your nipple pain, it's smart to try to determine its root cause. If you can determine the cause, you'll know what to treat to eliminate your nipple pain.
If you can't determine a cause, you'll know that there's chance, albeit a small one, that your nipple pain is the sign of something more serious, and you'll know to go to a doctor.

Hope i have answered your query.
