Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed Yuvafem for vaginal dryness and I am concerned about the side effects. I don t have a bleeding disorder, but I do have ulcerative colitis and take a daily maintenance dose of medication and have been in remission for years. My concern is I have an increased risk of cancer due to the ulcerative colitis and wonder if this medication is too risky.
Dear Estrogens may cause endometrial hyperplasia and increased risks of myocardial infarction, stroke, invasive breast cancer, pulmonary emboli, and deep vein thrombosis in postmenopausal women.
Few studies shows that in a large prospective cohort of women, postmenopausal hormone therapy was associated with an increased risk of UC but not CD.
These findings indicate that pathways related to estrogens might mediate the pathogenesis of UC.
Please use lowest as possible in lowest duration.
Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Take Care
