Dear anit, Thank you for your question on HCM.
I hope you are aware that a pap smear is done as a screening test for ruling out cervical cancer which is caused due to the human papilloma virus.the next test which follows the pap smear is a colposcopy in which we confirm the diagnosis.the surgery which has been advised to you is most likely an excisional biopsy if the lesion is small, which is usually done under a type of local anesthesia called a cervical block. but if the lesion has extended and if its large then it requires surgery which will be done under a spinal anaesthesia.since you have not mentioned the type of surgery which has been advised to you ,i will not be able to comment on it.but this condition definitely requires immediate intervention and you will have to undergo regular follow up after the surgery,so that we can be sure that there is no recurrence.but in initial stages ,you can be rest assured that you will be fine after the treatment.hope this information was helpful to you.do get back to me for further help.
Regards,
Dr.radhika
