What Are The Early Signs Of Pregnancy?

Hi doctor, me and my gf had protected sex on the 28th of may but the condom split, she took the morning after pill 17 hours after intercouse. One week later on the 4th June she started light bleeding getting heaviler at times. She stopped bleeding on the 6th June and now today on the 7th June she has started again. What does this mean? Has the pill worked? Or are these signs of pregancy? When should the bleeding stop?

I have gone through your query and have understood the concern.

You had an intercourse when the condom was torn accidently on 28th. Within 24 hours she has taken morning after pill. This pill is an emergency contraceptive pill and has got very good success rate. Moreover, she had menses on 4th and lasted for 3 days. So you need not worry about the pregnancy.

The bleeding she restarted on 7th is just nothing but the continuation of the menstruation that she started on 4th. The bleeding will stop in a couple of days. After emergency contraceptive pill, little variation in menstrual cycle/bleeding may take place.

Still if you want to be doubly sure, please wait for 8-10 days and then perform urine pregnancy test and/or ultrasonography for detection of pregnancy. These tests done earlier are not conclusive and may give false negative results.
